Ebi Gold Shrimp Soil – Premium substrate for shrimp aquariums

Ebi Gold Shrimp Soil is a high-quality substrate, specially formulated to create optimal conditions for sensitive shrimp such as Caridina and Taiwan Bee. Unlike many other substrates, it does not release ammonium (NH₄) upon start-up, which minimizes the risk of toxic peaks and makes it safe to use immediately – even in newly started aquariums.

🌿

Features and benefits

  • Natural composition: Consists of various dark soil types without added fertilizers or dyes.
  • Porous structure: Large surface area and open pore structure promote the growth of beneficial microorganisms and bacteria, contributing to a stable and balanced ecosystem.
  • Stabilizes water parameters:
    • pH: Lowers and stabilizes pH to approximately 6.0–6.8, depending on the characteristics of the tap water.
    • GH: Reduces total hardness to approximately 4–5 °dGH.
    • KH: Lowers carbonate hardness to approximately 1–2 °dKH.
  • No ammonium leakage: Unlike some other substrates, Ebi Gold Shrimp Soil does not release ammonium, which reduces the risk of algae growth and creates a safe environment for the shrimp.
  • Fast clarification: Any turbidity at start-up disappears within a few hours, resulting in clear and clean water.

📏

Technical specifications

  • Grain size: 1.5–2.5 mm
  • Color: According to the manufacturer, gray to dark gray; users often experience it as dark brown
  • Volume: 5 liters per package
  • Manufacturing: Produced in Japan to ISO 9001 certified quality standards, ensuring consistent quality and granule size

🧪

Use and dosage

  • Preparation: Do not rinse the substrate before use – Ebi Gold Shrimp Soil is ready to use directly in the aquarium.
  • Installation: Place a plate on the substrate and carefully fill with water from above to avoid swirling.
  • Recommended substrate height: 3–5 cm, depending on the size of the aquarium.
  • Tip: Although the soil is safe to use immediately, we recommend running the aquarium for at least 14 days before introducing shrimp. This gives biofilm and beneficial microorganisms time to establish themselves – an important source of nutrition for newly hatched shrimp larvae.

Ebi Gold Shrimp Soil is a trusted and proven choice for shrimp enthusiasts looking for a substrate that promotes health, reproduction and long-term stability in the aquarium. Its natural composition and ability to stabilize water parameters without releasing harmful substances make it a first choice for both beginners and experienced shrimp farmers.
