JBL ProAquaTest – KH Test

The JBL ProAquaTest KH is an easy-to-use rapid test for measuring carbonate hardness (KH) in aquarium water. The test is used to check the buffering capacity of the water and to monitor changes in KH over time.

KH is a temporary hardness that can be affected by water changes, minerals, bottom substrate and biological processes in the aquarium. Regular measurement provides better control over water chemistry.

The KH test is often used in shrimp aquariums, where different species require different levels:

Caridina: usually 0–3 °dKH

Neocaridina: usually 2–10 °dKH

Why test KH?

Even if the water looks clear, the KH value can change without being visible. By testing regularly, you can ensure stable water conditions and detect deviations in time.

Instructions for use:

Rinse the test tube with the water to be tested.

Fill the test tube with 5 ml of water up to the mark.

Add reagent drop by drop, shaking gently after each drop.

Stop when the color changes from blue to yellow or yellow-orange.

1 drop = 1 °dKH.

A simple and reliable method for keeping control of KH in aquariums with shrimp.
